By Chase Drange and Jake Edgell
Chase Drange and Taylor Bertsch competed in the first event, Junior Creed speaking, held that afternoon.
March 26, Jacob Edgell, Isaac Nemitz, Dylan Sander and Jessica Stockett arose at 6 a.m. to go to FBM, which is a test given to measure the contestants’ ability to problem solve and take care of a farm. Also held that day was Livestock Evaluation in which contestants showed their skill in judging and giving a set of oral reasons for livestock animals. Another competition that day was the Agronomy event. Students took tests on soil, plant and seed identification, and range conditions.
Ending the day was the Ag Mechanics contest. In this contest, contestants show their skill in plumbing, woodworking, mechanics, and welding. Additionally that day, part of the Plevna FFA Chapter participated in “The Day of Service”.
We went to the food bank and packed meal boxes. Later, we went to the Moss Mansion where there was plenty of extra stuff lying around for us to relocate or throw away. We were able to go to the infamous third floor, which is rumored to be haunted! Afterwards, we were given a free tour of the mansion.
Another Day of Service group took part in washing cars for the non-profit group, Eagle Mount, which sponsors activities for the disabled.
March 27, the Final Four Creed Speakers presented their speeches in front of a large audience. Chase Drange earned a spot in the Final Four and took first place in the Montana Jr. Creed Speaking! The Plevna FFA Chapter was ecstatic at this achievement.
Another exciting achievement was the Plevna FFA placed seventh in the state of Montana in Agronomy. Members of this team were Jake Edgell, Dylan Sander, Jessica Stockett, and Isaac Nemitz.
This was an amazing accomplishment since there were 58 other teams in this competition. In Livestock Evaluation, Taylor Bertsch, Chase Drange, Jessica Paul, and Taylor Rieger competed the morning of Mar. 27.
The Plevna Ag Mechanics team consisted of Jake Edgell, Isaac Nemitz, and Dylan Sander. They took 10th place out of 64 teams.
Congratulations to all on a job well done! You make Plevna proud of your accomplishments.
