The eighth grade class, with the help of Mr. Mangold, used a hovercraft in science class that was built by a previous physics class. They were studying the science of fluid friction. The hose of a shop vac fit in a hole in a large plywood circle and filled the plastic surrounding it up with air. Some air escaped out the holes in the plastic and lifted the hovercraft off the ground.
The eighth grade students were able to ride the hovercraft and then gave some of the elementary students a chance to ride it. The kids were amazed and had a blast riding the unique hovercraft.
The eighth grade class used their knowledge of friction to demonstrate an interesting project and had fun in the process.
