Another great day of summer activities was held in Fallon County at Triangle Park in Baker. The annual Fallon County Day sponsored by the Fallon County Recreation Department on the Fourth of July started in the morning with a 5K Run/Walk. Top runners were: Age 7-19, Paitton Herbst and Aaron Smith; Age 20 – 29, Jacee VanDyke & Isaac VanDyke; Age 30 – 39, Elaine Dohl & John Merwin; Age 40 – 49, Mindi Murnion & Patrick Judge; Age 50 – 59, Kristi Burns; Age 60 – 69, Peggy Johnson & Harold Miller. Wade Trivisonno, Mikey Jensen, Charlie, Johanna & Joshua Barth participated in the Kid’s Fun Run. The day ended with a spectacular display of fireworks over Baker Lake.
A variety of events throughout the day appealed to a broad range of spectators and participants of all ages. Nine teams participated in the volleyball tournament and 14 teams in the horseshoe tournament.
“We had a great participation this year,” said Angie Rabbitt, Recreation Department Director.
Young and old enjoyed watching remote control airplanes in action and viewing cars at the Baker Airport. Inflatable amusements occupied children throughout the day. Music was provided by the Rock Jocks until the evening when a good old-fashioned beach party concert was held with the Kahuna Beach Party band.
“We want people to take advantage of the day and entertain people at home,” said Rabbitt. “I hope to sustain a great Fallon County Day every year.”
