“Take pride in how far you have come – have faith in how far you will go”

The 86th commencement exercise was held at Plevna High School May 18. The Plevna band performed as the three seniors along with their parents walked into the ceremony.

Cole Van Fossen opened the program by leading the Pledge of Allegiance, and Shelbie Webb followed with the invocation.

Keynote speaker was Sen. Eric Moore of Miles City. Senator Eric Moore was raised in central Colorado where he was active in 4-H, high school football, rodeo, and operated several businesses with his brother. After graduation, Senator Moore attended Montana State University where he was recruited to play football for the Bobcats. In college he majored in Agriculture Business with a minor in Animal Science. The next three years he spent in southwest Kansas working/managing one of the nation’s largest cattle feed yards.

Senator Moore was elected to the Montana Senate in 2010. In 2013 he served as the majority whip and as vice chair of the senate ag committee. Senator Moore also had the opportunity to serve four years on the board of directors of the Montana Stockgrower’s Association, where he gained valuable knowledge in lobbying on behalf of ranchers’ interests in Helena. He is president of the Montana Cattle Feeders’ Association, serves on the Montana Beef Council, and is a strong supporter of MSU Steer A Year program, the Miles Community College Steers For Pioneers Program and Custer County 4-H and FFA.
