To help the first grade learn about simple machines, Mrs. Tunby and Mr. Mangold decided to have them build a catapult. The sixth grade came to the rescue and helped the first graders learn about building catapults. First, they made their own catapults with popsicle sticks, bottle caps, and rubber bands. Then they made a larger version using PVC pipe, tape, a rubber band, and spoon to make their creation.

Everyone had a great time and the first graders learned that simple machines could be fun.
