Ever think that John Wayne singlehandedly won the west? How about that the white man alone made the West what it was today? What about the women? Did you think that they stayed at home and twiddled their thumbs waiting for their husbands to come home from work? Well, not quite. “How the West was Really Won” is a fun timeline where two old cowboys (played by Caleb Ploeger and Chase Drange) tell about all of the great historical events that have happened in the West. These events included the gold and silver rush, the pony express, the different climates, the Chinese and Irish railroad workers, Native Americans, and much more.
This play was perfect for one great reason. This year, Montana celebrated its 125th! To celebrate the occasion, at the end of the musical the cast sang Montana’s state song. The actors and actresses were amazing, the songs were wonderful, and everyone enjoyed it! Great job to the elementary cast and director Mrs. Bruha.
