Solenn Jacobsen has been selected to represent Baker High School as a delegate to the 2014 session of Montana American Legion Auxiliary Girls State. Solenn is the daughter of Isabelle and Mark Jacobsen.

Montana American Legion Auxiliary Girls State will be held from Saturday, May 31 to Friday, June 6, 2014 on the campus of Carroll College in Helena. It is a government studies program for girls who have completed their junior year of high school. Each delegate will have the opportunity to learn firsthand that government is just what she makes it.

Citizens of Girls State will not only review knowledge already acquired concerning the political machinery in the state, but they will perform exactly the same duties as real officeholders in the everyday world.

Delegates will elect their own officers in the manner prescribed by Montana election procedure. They will set up their own city governments and pass and enforce their own city ordinances. Delegates will also organize their own legislature where they will present and argue their own bills.

Delegates to Montana American Legion Auxiliary Girls State are sponsored by the Baker Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture, Beta Sigma Phi Sororities, and Fallon Unit 35 of the Montana American Legion Auxiliary.
