The Baker Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture sponsored a Meet and Greet the Fallon County Candidates event at the Senior Citizen Center April 23. Approximately 50 citizens were in attendance to listen to the candidates voice their stance on community issues.

The panel of ten candidates for contested and unopposed positions were asked a series of questions in a closed forum. All of the candidates were requested to give their qualifications and explanation for running for public office. They were also asked questions directly related to the position.

Questions pertained to affordable housing, growth and legal issues in Fallon County to second amendment rights and perceived obstacles. Confidence reverberated through the experienced candidates and enthusiasm in those new to candidacy.

Candidates in attendance included:

County Commissioner District 1 (six year term): Deb Ranum, Republican; Kevin J. Braun, Republican

County Clerk and Recorder/Superintendent of Schools (four year term): Brenda Wood, Republican

Sheriff/Coroner (four year term): Trent Harbaugh, Republican; Randy Ketterling, Republican

County Treasurer/Assessor (four year term): Barb Ketterling, Republican
