COUNTY ATTORNEY

Albert R. Batterman

I have been the Fallon County Attorney for 14 years. I have made Baker my home since I took office in 2000, and it is my pleasure and privilege to serve my fellow citizens.

I grew up in  Glendive, attended college in Minnesota, and law school in Vermont. I returned to eastern Montana in 1998 to open my practice, and now own Batterman Law Offices, P.C., a full service law firm with offices in Baker and Glendive.

In my career I have provided dedicated and effective public service. I have prosecuted hundreds of civil and criminal cases. I advise our elected leaders regarding the counties’ legal rights and responsibilities. I proudly represent our community before the legislature and Supreme Court. I am the current President of the Montana County Attorney Association. I hope to continue to use my experience and ability to make Fallon and Carter Counties better places to live.

When not at work, I am an avid hunter, runner, and occasionally, a calf wrestler. I hope in the past 14 years that I have earned your trust, your friendship, and your vote.

Darcy L. Pankratz

I was born in Baker, where I was raised and graduated high school. I attended college at the University of Montana in Missoula where I earned the Outstanding Senior in my major and graduated with honors. I earned a scholarship to the University of San Diego, School of Law. I took and passed the California, Oregon, and Montana State Bars.

I moved back to Baker in 2011. My fiance and I bought a home and will raise our children here. We will be married in September. I am currently the City Attorney for the City of Baker. I have learned a great deal while serving in this position, ranging from advising government leaders to prosecuting criminal matters. I have prepared for the role of Fallon County Attorney by taking many legal education courses geared toward advising government entities and boards, and additional trial training.

I am from this community and have returned here because it is a great community with good people. I believe it is my unique abilities and attitude that make me a great candidate for the job as County Attorney. I have the communication, education, analytical skills, judgment, and integrity to be an effective County Attorney.

SHERIFF

Trenton Harbaugh

I live in Baker with my girlfriend Donna and our four kids; Sady, Briley, Jayda, and Treylan. I grew up in Eastern Montana and have been raised around law enforcement all my life. My first job experience related to law enforcement came during a summer between college when I worked at the Butte Pre-Release Center in Butte, MT. After college I worked as a detention officer at the Gallatin County Detention Center in Bozeman, MT for a little less than a 1 1/2 years. During that time I graduated the Corrections/Detention Officer Basic in Helena, MT. Looking to expand into peace officer status, I saw an opening for the Fallon County Sheriff’s Office and when I was offered the job I jumped at the opportunity to head back to Eastern Montana. I now have been with the Fallon County Sheriff’s Office for over eight years and served over three years of that as Undersheriff. I have graduated the Montana Law Enforcement Academy, received my Coroner’s Basic Certificate, and received over a 1000 hours of specialized training during that time. I enjoy the community and believe that it is a great place to raise my family.

Randy R. Ketterling

I was raised in Baker, graduating from Baker High School in 1980. I married my wife Barb in 1981 and have been happily married for almost 33 years. Together we have raised three daughters. Cristal who is married and lives outside Kansas City, Missouri with her husband Blaine and son Carson. Amanda, who is married to Rusty Knuths, who recently have moved back and are ranching in the Ismay area. They have two sons, Kellan and Brody. Our youngest daughter Cassidy lives in Billings and is a RN at Billings Clinic I.C.U.

I attended Missoula College with a degree in electronics. My career then went into law enforcement. I joined the staff at the Baker Police Department and graduated from the Montana Law Enforcement Academy and became a patrolman for the City. In 1991, I was appointed as Chief of Police. I was selected for the F.B.I. Academy and received training and graduated from Quantico, VA. My passion in life has been working law enforcement. I have set goals in my career in law enforcement making our community a safe place that I am proud to say that I raised my children in. In my spare time I enjoy golfing, riding motorcycle and spending as much time with my kids and grandkids as I can. I would like the opportunity to be your next sheriff in Fallon County and feel with my knowledge and years of experience and training I could be a positive person to fill that position.

COMMISSIONER

Deb Ranum

I am a native of Fallon County, residing on a ranch northeast of Baker. I graduated from Baker High School, attended college – receiving a diploma in business. My son Shawn, his wife Brandye and my grandson Tuf live in Dickinson.

Prior to becoming a Commissioner, I worked for Fallon County as the Disaster and Emergency Services Coordinator, at the Parks, Planning and Weed Departments. I have completed the State Certification training for County Commissioners; serving my second term representing District 1. I never pass an opportunity to continue my education. I have earned 39 State and 28 Federal Continuing Education Certificates.

Presently, I serve on the Fallon County Safety Committee, Health Board, Emergency Planning Committee, City/County Parks Board, Planning Board, Insurance Committee, Baker Municipal Airport Board of Adjustments, and Transportation Committee.

I consider it a privilege to serve as County Commissioner and enjoy working with the residents of Fallon County, or volunteering to help with a community project or an event. All in all, “Life is Good”.

Kevin J. Braun

I am running for Fallon County Commissioner (District 1) as a Republican candidate. For the Fallon County residents that don’t know me, I was born in Fallon County and raised five (5) miles east of Baker on the family farm that my Grandfather Theodore Braun homesteaded in 1908. I attended the Fertile Prairie country school until eighth grade, and then attended and graduated from Baker High School and went on to college. I returned to the family farm and along with farming/ranching, worked construction in the oilfield. In 1991, I purchased the family farm and now primarily ranch, raising Angus cattle. In 1992, I married my wife Maria (Heineman) from Wibaux and we have a 16 year old son, Austin. I have served on the Board of Trustees for Mid-Rivers Telephone Cooperative for 19 years. I would look forward to the challenge and opportunity to serve the Fallon County residents as their next commissioner. Please use the opportunity on June 3rd and go to the polls!
