January 24, the FFA Ag Mechanics Team headed to Lewistown for the Fergus Mechanics Competition. The members included Ike Nemitz, Quentin Wheeler, Dylan Sander, Zane Tunby, Chris Skogas, and Layne Silver-Farris. They competed Jan. 25 and even made it back in time for the Lady Cougars basketball game in Rosebud.
Some of the knowledge they needed to compete were in the fields of electrical, tool ID, woodworking, metal fabrication, small engine ID, irrigation, tractor safety, and a written test.
There was a junior team, which consisted of Ike, Quentin, and Layne; and the senior team of Dylan, Zane and Chris. The junior team placed eighth out of 17 junior teams, and the senior team took 18th out of 29 teams.
Individually, Ike placed 6th, Quentin 23rd, and Layne 48th in the junior category. On the senior side, Dylan placed 66th, Zane placed 69th, and Chris 79th.
Overall, they had a great time and look forward to advancing their skills in mechanics throughout the next few years.
