District Honor Band and Choir

Nov. 25-26, students from Baker High School traveled to Glendive to participate in District Honor Band and Choir.

Nov. 25-26, students from Baker High School traveled to Glendive to participate in District Honor Band and Choir. Mixed Honor Choir was directed by Marie Dickey from Gillette, WY. The choir performed “America” arranged by Mary McDonald, “Festival Jubilate” by Earlene Rentz, “Three Madrigals” by Emma Lou Diemer, “Will You Teach Me?” by Eric Unruh, and “Black is the Color of My True Love’s Hair” arranged by Victor Johnson.

The Honor Band was directed by James Leach from Dickinson State University. The band performed “Prairie Dances” by Holsinger, “Screamers” arranged by Douglas Wagner, “Mountain Thyme” arranged by Samuel Hazo, and “Pixar Movie Magic” arranged by Michael Brown.

The following students participated: Haylee Barkley, Darby Bettenhausen, Nic Bohle, McKenzie Buck, Caden Dukart, Anna Espeland, Jeff Fisher, Joe Fisher, Taiken Goerndt, Megan Greiff, Stephanie Heaps, Savannah Hickey, Justin Irgens, Solenn Jacobsen, Mariah Lecoe, Spencer Losing, Breanna Miller, Taylor Miller, Kalli Post, Isaac Rost, Jase Rost, Sienna Schuler, Megan Slagter, Lauren Wang, and Braylea Wyrick.

The following students earned first chair of their section by placing highest in an audition process. Baker students were first chair section leaders in seven of eleven possible chair placements. Those students were Savannah Hickey – clarinet, Justin Irgens – alto sax, Caden Dukart – tenor sax, Lauren Wang – baritone sax, Braylea Wyrick – bass clarinet, Nic Bohle – trombone, and Spencer Losing – tuba.
