Baker hosted the semi-final Class B football game against Glasgow Nov. 16, winning 22-7, and earning a chance to play in the state game.
In the first quarter, Glasgow scored the only touchdown. Baker came back on top during the second quarter with a two yard touchdown by Mason Melby, but the PAT failed. Later in the quarter, Melby kicked a 25 yard field goal, making the score 9-7.
During the third quarter, neither team scored. At the beginning of the fourth quarter, Melby scampered two yards for a touchdown, the PAT was blocked. That gave Baker a 15-7 lead. With 36 seconds on the clock, Melby sprinted 16 yards for the touchdown and kicked the PAT. Jordan Walker intercepted the ball with one second left in the game, which sealed the win for the Spartans.
Offensively, Melby had 31 carries for 189 yards. Jonathan Wiseman had 19 carries for 116 yards. Seth Barkley rushed 61 yards with 12 carries. As a whole, the team rushed 372 yards with 67 carries.
Baker’s defense held Glasgow to minus nine yards rushing, 180 yards passing, and a touchdown. Travis Koenig and Jeff Fisher each had seven tackles, Walker and Wiseman each had an interception.
