The 2013 MHSA State All-Class Cross Country Championships were held Oct. 26 at the University of Montana golf course in Missoula. 936 runners from all four MHSA classes ran in their last meet of the season. The top seven runners from each school’s cross country team are eligible to compete at the state meet.
After training diligently since Aug. 19, the Dawson County Red Devils had the chance to run in one last race. Three Red Devil runners from Fallon County competed at the state meet this year. Paitton Herbst and Nicole Allerdings ran in the Class A girls race. Nicole placed 26th out of 134 runners. Her time was 20:40. With a time of 20:00, Paitton placed 18th. The Dawson County girls’ team placed seventh out of 18 teams.
Spencer Losing ran in the Class A boys race and placed 62nd out of 141 runners with a time of 17:47. The Dawson County boys’ team placed ninth out of 20 teams.
The Dawson County cross country teams worked hard all season, traveling around the region to compete in seven regular season meets, the Eastern A Classic in Billings, and the MHSA State Meet. All of the dedicated athletes improved their times throughout the season and are looking forward to next year’s season.
