Gotta question?

Q. I heard the lab at Fallon Medical Complex did not pass their state inspection. Is this true, and if so what part of the inspection did the lab not pass?

Q. I heard the lab at Fallon Medical Complex did not pass their state inspection. Is this true, and if so what part of the inspection did the lab not pass?

A. David Espeland, CEO of Fallon Medical Complex, responded, “I am pleased to report that we have never failed a laboratory inspection in the 19 years of my tenure at Fallon Medical Complex. We are inspected by a number of agencies on a routine basis, most recently by the MT Department of Public Health and Human Services Survey & Certification Bureau. This agency is responsible for ensuring that we are meeting all of the regulations required to be a Critical Access Hospital (CAH). In addition, we are inspected on a regular basis by the Montana CLIA Program, which regulates all laboratory testing on humans in the US, as well as United Blood Services, which stocks our blood bank.

Lastly, we have an agreement with Billings Clinic to provide general laboratory oversight, under which they double-check our quality controls, review pathology cases, assist with operational issues, and provide guidance on changes and improvements to our lab. All in all, we are very proud of our lab’s sterling performance record.”
