Tune in for Leadership, Channel 10 for Montana FCCLA! This was the theme for the Montana State FCCLA Leadership Meeting that was held in Billings March 24-26. March 24, seven FCCLA members, Mrs. Stickney, Mrs. Walker, and Mrs. Benner headed to Billings for the conference. At the Sunday night opening session, keynote speaker Laymon Hicks told FCCLA members that if they want something they need to “Get Up, Get Out, and Go Get It”.
After the opening ceremony, Plevna FCCLA members were involved in a variety of activities. Shelbie Webb, Heather Skogas, and Claiten Webb were Plevna’s STAR event participants. Shelbie and Heather competed in the National Programs in Action STAR Event with a Stop the Violence project. They received a gold medal in the senior category for their teen violence awareness workshop. Claiten Webb participated in the Recycle and Redesign STAR Event. He received a gold medal in the junior division and scored high enough as the second place winner to earn a trip to the National Leadership Meeting in Nashville, Tennessee, this summer!
Nicole Allerdings and Morgan Miller attended the leadership track to develop skills that will help them become better leaders in their home and community. Zane Tunby went on the construction career track. He boarded a bus with other FCCLA members and traveled around Billings visiting construction sites and home improvement stores.
Tiffany Benner presented a workshop for students who need to move forward after the suicide of a loved one. Participants ended the workshop by adding a butterfly to the Memory Tree in memory of a person they lost to suicide. Tiffany received the honor of being selected to present this workshop at the National Leadership Meeting in July.
Congratulations to all participants and what a great conference!
