July 4, 2013 promises to kick-off a great weekend for the folks of Fallon County, and the Baker Lake recreation area will be the site of some major fun.
Recreation Department director Angie Rabbitt has been working hard to coordinate a full slate of activities for the entire family. “I’m still in the planning stage, but I do have several things confirmed so far.” Rabbitt decided to overhaul the activities of the community day following a significant drop in numbers at the 2012 event. “I talked to the County Commissioners and they were on board about making this a great event.”
One of the exciting new additions to this year’s Fallon County Day is an air show brought in by Baker Air Service.
Five hours of inflatables, along with a magic show featuring Cameron Messmer whose skills not only include magic, but also fire-eating, juggling, balloon animals and up close magic tricks performed as he strolls among the crowd. “He really offers a lot in a single package,” Rabbitt commented.
Returning to Baker, but putting in her first appearance at Fallon County Day, will be Pippi the Clown, a fair favorite. “Pippi will be doing face painting and balloon stuff. She is awesome with kids,” noted Rabbitt.
Other events taking place in conjunction with Fallon County Day include a 5k, a kids’ fun run, golf scramble, sand volleyball tournament, kids’ sand castle building contest, horseshoe tournament, and the kids’ fishing derby.
The Rock Jocks will once again be blanketing the lake area with great summer tunes throughout the day and right on through the day’s grand finale fireworks display over the lake.
A more detailed schedule of events will be included in the Fallon County Recreation Department’s May newsletter.
