Baker students excel at Math Meet

March 20, 2013, 47 Baker High School and junior high students traveled to Plevna to compete in the Montana Council of Teachers of Mathematics Regional Math Meet.

March 20, 2013, 47 Baker High School and junior high students traveled to Plevna to compete in the Montana Council of Teachers of Mathematics Regional Math Meet. Each student took three tests and then joined together with other Baker students to take the team test. Students who earned scores in the top 35 percent were recognized with Honorable Mention ratings while those who placed in the top 15 percent were recognized with Superior ratings.
Students who received honorable mention or superior ratings were: Karlee Murnion (HM – Problem Solving, HM – Applied), Lauren Wang (HM – Problem Solving, S – Applied, HM – Intermediate), Solenn Jacobsen (S – Applied, S – Intermediate), Braylea Wyrick (S – Problem Solving, S – Applied), Jase Rost (S – Problem Solving, S – Applied, S – Intermediate), Wyatt Perry (HM – Problem Solving), Dallas Arnell (HM – Problem Solving), Brady Varner (HM – Applied, S – Intermediate), Cody Perry (HM – Intermediate).

Several Baker students excelled on the individual tests and were recognized for various accomplishments. Students who placed on all three of their individual tests were designated as Silver Rating winners. Baker students receiving Silver Ratings were Taiken Goerndt, Paul Wang, Spencer Losing, Lauren Wang, Isaiah Schell, Dakotah Rusley, and Chandler Losing.
Students receiving Superior ratings on all three of their individual tests are recognized as Gold Rating winners and presented with a pin. Jase Rost and Isaac Rost received this designation. Students who had the top score on an individual test were awarded mechanical pencils. Baker students receiving top score honors were Ryan Espeland (Senior and Scholarship), Dakotah Rusley (Senior and Finite), Jase Rost (Applied), Solenn Jacobsen (Applied), Braylea Wyrick (Problem Solving), Paul Wang (Pot Luck), and Isaac Rost (Number Concepts).
The Baker Middle School teams also did well. The team consisting of Paul Wang, Isaac Rost, Kadon Gentilini, Isaiah Schell, Cameron MacKay and Tannon Dukart placed first in the seventh-eighth grade division.
The ninth-tenth grade division was won by the Baker team consisting of Braylea Wyrick, Solenn Jacobsen, Jase Rost, Spencer Losing, and RJ Crow. Baker Team B received second place in the 11th-12th grade division. Members of Baker Team B were Ryan Espeland, Dakotah Rusley, Jeff Fisher, Dustin Irgens, and Jonathan Wiseman.
