The Baker Spartans hosted the Forsyth Dogies Sept. 21. The Spartans lost a tight game in double overtime, 21-28.
In the first quarter of the game, Ethan Taylor scored Baker’s first touchdown with a 47 yard run, followed by a PAT from Jordan Gray. Forsyth scored their first touchdown of the game, ending the first quarter 7-7.
During the second quarter of the Forsyth/Baker face-off, the Dogies scored another touchdown on Spartan turf. The Spartans were not able to score any points during this quarter, ending the second quarter 7-14.
Baker’s Jordan Walker scored another touchdown with a 14 yard run in the third quarter and the PAT by Jordan Gray was successful. The third quarter ended 14-14.
Competing for the win was a battle and neither team was able to score a touchdown in the fourth quarter, sending the game into overtime. In the first overtime, Baker scored their third touchdown with a one yard run from Jordan Walker followed by a Jordan Gray PAT. Forsyth followed Baker with their third touchdown on a three yard run followed by a PAT to end the overtime with another tie, 21-21, which led to another overtime.
In the beginning of the double overtime, Forsyth scored the final touchdown of the game and Baker was unable to score again.
Dustin Irgens led in defensive tackles with 10, Jordan Gray and Travis Koenig had 9 each, Zac Cole 7, Jeff Fisher 7, Sheldon Ridenhower 6, Jonathan Wiseman 6, Jimmy Skelton 5, Darin Scheetz 5.
