A funeral service for Sadie F. Brewer, 91, of Baker was held Jan. 31, 2013 in the chapel of Stevenson Funeral Home in Baker with Pastor Rod Kilsdonk of the Baker Assembly of God Church officiating. Interment was in the Forsyth Cemetery at Forsyth.

Sadie passed away Jan. 25, 2013 at Fallon Medical Complex in Baker.

Sarah Mae “Sadie” Brewer was born May 16, 1921 at Brandenberg, Mont., a daughter of John L. and Mabel C. (Goodale) Flowers. She grew up on the family ranch on the Tongue River in eastern Rosebud County. Sadie attended the Brandenberg country school and later attended high school in Forsyth where she graduated in 1941. While she attended high school, she worked part time in the county treasurer’s office. Following graduation, Sadie worked on her parents’ ranch and was an alternate bus driver for her brother, Richard, who had the school bus contract from Ashland to Brandenberg. While Richard was off to the war serving his country, Sadie’s father died. Sadie took over the ranching operation until Richard’s return. She also helped her mother with running the Brandenberg Post Office until it closed and relocated into Miles City.

In 1956, with a little help of some friends, Sadie met Fred E. Brewer at the post office in Brandenberg, and after a courtship the two were married Nov. 10, 1956 in Miles City. After their marriage, Sadie and Fred worked on different ranches until 1959 when they moved to Miles City. In 1960, they returned to the H.L. Hunt’s Ball Ranch near Brandenberg until Jan. 24, 1964, when they moved to Baker. Sadie lived in her home in Baker until the fall of 2011 when she entered Quality Personal Care.

Sadie was a hard worker. She enjoyed sewing and made many articles of clothing for her family. Throughout the years, she exhibited many of these items in the county fair. She was a great cook and at Christmas time she enjoyed making candy.

Sadie is survived by her two sons, John Brewer of Baker and Richard “Dick” Brewer of Miles City; her daughter, Gloria (Robert) Nelson, of Garland, Utah; 13 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mabel; her husband, Fred; two daughters, Sherran Meidinger and Linda Viken; her daughter-in-law, Laura Brewer; two grandsons, baby boy Witcher and Allen Dale Nelson; great-grandson Gerald Allan Astle; granddaughter-in-law, Kristia Loutzenhiser; her sister Carolyn Harris; and her brother, Richard Flowers.
