Lillian L. Joseph was born in Baker Aug. 15, 1930, the daughter of Fredrick and Magdalena (Ehret) Pinnow. She was brought to Jesus Christ in Holy Baptism on Sept. 7, 1930, and publicly confirmed her vows in the Christian faith July 8, 1945.

She attended elementary school in Baker until 1940 when she attended Plevna Elementary. After graduation from Plevna High School, she enrolled in Anderson Beauty College in Billings. After graduating from college, she was employed as a hair dresser in Conrad, Billings, and Baker. From 1955 to 1959, Mrs. Joseph owned and managed Pom Pom Beauty Haven in the Broadwater Shopping Center. From 1959 to 1964, Mrs. Joseph owned and managed Lillian’s Beauty Haven at 928 Howard Avenue. After moving to Glasgow, Mrs. Joseph received her instructor’s license of cosmetology. Due to an auto accident, she was disabled and unable to continue to teach.

Lillian Joseph entered the holy estate of matrimony with Robert L. Joseph on Sept. 3, 1950 at Peace Lutheran Church in Plevna. One daughter, Kathryn L. (Joseph) Zastrow, was born to this union who preceded Lillian in death in 1982. Lillian wrote a book “God’s Gift” in memory of her daughter Kathryn. The proceeds were dedicated to the many volunteer groups Mrs. Joseph was active in supporting: Lutheran Braille Workers, Lutheran Tape Ministry, Good Shepherd Lutheran Home of the West, Trinity Lutheran School, and St. John’s Lutheran Home Auxiliary in Billings. Mrs. Joseph was active in the Lutheran Church in Glasgow, Lewistown, Great Falls, and Trinity Lutheran Church in Billings. She served as mission service chairman for the Montana District Lutheran Women’s Missionary League for ten years and served as world relief chairman – making and collecting quilts for world relief all over the state of which were her happiest years as a volunteer, serving her Lord Jesus Christ. Working as a volunteer was her life.

Lillian Joseph is survived by her husband, Robert; two brothers, Franklin Pinnow of Terrell, Tex. and Arnold Pinnow of Baker; one sister, Delphine Maier, of Spearfish, S.D.; many nieces and nephews.
